Who is this checklist for?
This checklist is designed for Speech and Language Therapists and students working with children who have feeding and swallowing difficulties. It's particularly useful for newly qualified SLTs, students on placement, and those returning to paediatric caseloads. It is a professional resource — it is not designed for parents or carers.
Is this really free?
Yes, completely. No payment, no catch. It's our way of giving something practical back to the SLT community — and supporting clinicians to feel more prepared walking into paediatric feeding assessments.
Can I use this in my clinical practice?
Yes — it's licensed for personal professional use. You're welcome to use it as part of your own pre-assessment preparation. Please note it is licensed for personal use only and may not be shared, distributed, or reproduced without permission from Little Beginnings Hub.
Does this replace clinical training or supervision?
No. This checklist is a preparation guide — it supports your practice but does not replace clinical training, supervision, or your own professional judgement. Clinical judgement should always lead. If you're looking to build your clinical knowledge in paediatric dysphagia, our Introduction to Paediatric Dysphagia and Paediatric Dysphagia Crash Course are a good place to start.
Who are Chelsea and Savannah?
Chelsea Ridge and Savannah Senior are qualified Speech and Language Therapists and the co-founders of Little Beginnings Hub. Savannah is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Between them they have extensive experience in paediatric dysphagia, feeding, and swallowing — in the UK and internationally. They built Little Beginnings Hub to make expert, evidence-based learning accessible to both professionals and families.
I'm interested in your courses. Where do I start?
